Renee Watson is a nationally recognized leader in public service and supplier diversity, serving as the coordinator and facilitator of the County’s Small, Minority & Women Owned Business Enterprise (SMWBE) Program, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison, and Title VI Coordinator. As a member of the County Manager’s Executive Leadership Team, Renee champions equitable access to procurement and contracting opportunities across all departments. She works closely with internal offices, external agencies, and community organizations to increase participation of SMWBEs in public and private sector contracting, while continuously evaluating and improving existing practices to ensure meaningful inclusion.

Renee’s career spans public policy, economic development, and legislative leadership. She holds a Master Contract Compliance Administrator (MCCA) certification from Morgan State University and an MPA in Urban Planning and Rural Economic Development from Baruch College, CUNY. A proud graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBA in Management and Marketing, Renee also served as Chief of Staff to Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis and San Diego Councilman George Stevens. Her accolades include the “Distinguished Service” Award from the City of San Antonio MLK Jr. Commission, “Leaders & Legacies” Award from the NBA San Antonio Spurs & Coca-Cola, and the “Advocacy” Award from the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Renee is an alumna of prestigious leadership programs including Leadership Texas, Leadership San Antonio, and Leadership California, reflecting her lifelong commitment to advancing equity, opportunity, and economic empowerment.
